Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): john Deere 400, sectional index, model plate

Question
I recently purchased a JD 400 w/koler 20hp.  I have no manual and trying to do complete service.  Everything operates well, I changed the motor oil and filter, but not sure about the hydro.  Noticed the filter underneath but not sure what oil to put in or where to put it. Nor how to check it.  Would greatly appreciate any advice on maitaince, also not sure about the rear end oil, and seems like maybe a seal leak at the right rear hub.  T

Answer
 Hello Josh:

Go to this Addy http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers 400 and Click Find. Then Select the Model in the Search Results. Then Select the Sectional Index. I Require the OEM and Model Numbers Off the Transaxle Model Plate. Some Hydro's Use SAE 30 Engine Oil and Some Use Hydraulic Oil. The Rear Ends Use SAE 80W90 Gear Oil. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks. Be Safe.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
