Land Rover Repair: 01 LR Disco. fuel/sensor probs, mass air flow sensor, mass air flow

Question
Hi, I have '01 LR DISCO, 4.0 gas.  The prob that i am having is when the truck is started and the engine is cool all operations seem to be normal but as the engine warms to normal operating temp. the engine starts running rough and will eventually shut off if left idling. I have not had the truck die while driving or short term idling but if i switch off, cannot restart until engine cools.  I am getting fire at plugs just no fuel.   Should there be noticeable change with the engine idle when the mass air flow sensor is unplugged? All that i get is slight change for approx 1 sec then all the same either plugged or unplugged.  Closest LR dealer is over 100 miles so trying to cover general basis before making the trip.  All suggestions greatly appreciated.    Thanks, Brad

Answer
a standard OBDII reader should be able to pull most of the codes, if you have a bad temperature sensor it could be doing this.  if the MAF is good unplugging it will just cause it to run a bit rich.

The error codes will help narrow it down, most auto-parts stores will have one you can use for free
