Land Rover Repair: Starting Problems - 2000 Freelander, cable failure, distinct problems

Question
I have diesel Freelander - 2000 model - it has become erratic to start - sometimes it will fire up first time and other times needs a bit of coaxing (switching the ignition on and off several times) other times is just won't start.  recently the rear window motor has failed - I am wondering whether it was an electrical problem rather than the 2 component parts failing?  I saw the response on the website regarding relays and wondered whether that is my problem as well??

Answer
Hi Carol,

sounds like you have two distinct problems: difficult cold starts and rear window motor (or cable) failure.  The relays for the two are separate and I can't think of how they could be linked.

Go to www.discoweb.org and check out the freelander discussion board for help with your starting problem.  You can also ask a fellow freelander owner about the woes with the rear window repair.

Best of luck,
