Land Rover Repair: valve cover gasket replacement, valve cover gasket, screw clamps

Question
recently purchased an '01 LR DiscoII w/ @125K on it. After 2 weeks my 3 amigos appeared - expected that, do believe they are all the result of low quality brake pads and dirty sensors. I have one heck of a valve cover leak on the passenger side, so gaskets are next on my list. Any pointers, and can I replace the crimp-on CV boot style hose clamps on the intake w/ traditional screw type w/o any issues? Used to own my own shop, but didn't work on these...now I understand why!

Answer
It's an all day job to replace the valve cover gaskets.  You have to remove the intake plenum and all the stuff in the middle.  While you are at it, you should replace the intake gaskets because they leak too.  If the valve covers leak the intake is not far behind, if it's not leaking now.

Also consider replacing the ignition wires as you can't get them out without this kind of teardown.  Plugs too.

If you really want step by step instructions you can buy a day's access to Land Rover's official site, www.landrovertechinfo.com and print all the material you need.

You can certainly use screw clamps, too.

No special tools are needed for this job.  It's just very time consuming.
