Land Rover Repair: Radiator hose, coolant level, radiator hose

Question
My low coolant light on my 2004 HSE came on so I put more coolant in it.  I
may have put too much but I didn't think about that.  Later that night while
driving to a friends, the top hose from radiator to engine popped off and the
coolant was lost. it was a cool night, so I reattached the hose and filled it
with coolant. I drive home today about 14 miles with no problems.
Could someone please help and tell me what could have cause this to
happen?

Answer
When anything gets hot it expands, if you filled the reservoir too full there would have been no room for expansion, the weakest point in your system let loose to relieve the pressure buildup from heat, which was luckily a hose-joint (instead of a freeze plug).  Keep a close eye on coolant level and drips in your parking spot to ensure you don't have any other problems waiting to catch you at a bad time.
