Land Rover Repair: abs light, speed sensors, dry pavement

Question
QUESTION: why is it that my 99 lr disco 1 abs light on and brakes feel like i am sliding in snow but on dry pavement the peddle is pulsating as if i was pressing brakes on ice? Is it the pump or sensors making it do that.

ANSWER: Without reading the codes, it is hard to determine, but I suspect one of the front ABS wheel speed sensors have gone bad.  They are expensive, but you should have it done immediately as sometimes emergency braking is affected and you cannot stop within a reasonable distance.

QUESTION: i replaced all abs sensors and light still on and brakes seem to not really stop like they should but brake pedal is hard not spongy or maybe its just me but they dont seem to have that stop right away or skid to stop

Answer
Did you replace all 4 ABS wheel speed sensors with new ones?  Used ones are notoriously bad.  Also, just replacing the sensors will not cancel the ABS code, they have to be cancelled with a factory compatible diagnostic scan tool.  Additionally, the ABS light illuminates every ignition cycle until you reach about 4 mph.

The wheel would not lock up or skid to a stop because you have ABS.  These cars do not feel sure-footed like other cars.  This is a common complaint of customers that the brakes feel weird.

Other than this, I would need to know what the ABS fault codes are.
