Land Rover Repair: check engine light, automatic car wash, t4 system

Question
I'M THINKING THE CODE WAS P1447 PURGE CANNISTER VALVE PERFORMANCE. HOWEVER THE PURGE VALVE/ CANNISTER WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH THE HEADER JUNCTION.WOULD THIS REALLY CAUSE THE CAR TO STALL?CAN I RESET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WITHOUT INSTALLING ANOTHER PURGE VALVE AND CANNISTER AND WHY WOULD THIS KEEP HAPPENING ?

Question -
I have a 1998 Dicovery LSE, 4 LITRE VIN#SALJY124XWA776098 and whenever I go through a rain storm the check engine comes on. Also I cannot go through a automatic car wash as it stalls.I took it to a LR repair shop and they said there was water ingress into the header junction and replaced it. However the problem keeps happening. I put a code reader on it and it came up with F1447(a ford code). What doeas this code indicate and what code do I need to put in to reset the engine light? Hope you can help, thanks Rob

Answer -
If your truck stalls in heavy rain or car washes I'd suggest you look at the cam and crank sensors.  They are the most common cause of that problem.  See if water is getting into the connectors.  We pack them with dielectric grease here to prevent that.

As to the code - it's not valid - I suggest using a different scan tool.  We use the Land Rover t4 system and the Autologic, both of which give text descriptions of the LR codes.

Answer
If you have purge codes there's a problem with the purge system.  On the Land Rover t4 test system we have a routine to test this system. That's your next step for that issue.

A purge fault will not cause stalling.  My original advice still applies there.
