Land Rover Repair: Land Rover Disco II TC Help, differential lock, carolina beach

Question
Hi
I was recently at Carolina Beach with my  00'Discovery II.   When I was in the sand the TC would take over and just bog me down in the sand while everyone else drove with no problem. Can I disable the TC or how to i turn it off for the sand ?

Answer
You can remove relay 9 from the main fusebox under the hood in an emergency situation, e.g. to get you out of the sand.  1999 & early 2000 Discovery IIs had the early type transfer box with differential lock.  If you have one of these, you can have the linkage fitted to enable the use of the differential lock.  This will eliminate all of these traction control problems and make it into a true four wheel drive.  If you have the later model 2000, you would have to get a transfer box or get ARB diff lockers.
