Land Rover Repair: 98 Disco 1, amp fuse, key fobs

Question
My theft alarm is acting goofy. Will sound when not activated. horn rapidly beeps (very short beeps) randomly. door locks won't work from drivers door key lock and key fobs are basically not functioning. Sometimes it seems to quite and it will start. The 15 amp fuse in satellite fuse box 1 (F1) blows. This all started after a mechanic cleared a 1448 code. I don't think this had anything to do with it because she started and ran fine for a day then got weird. Any tests for the theft alarm unit or techniques to avoid using the theft alarm?

Answer
You are kind of stuck.

First of all, clearing a code has nothing whatsoever to do with the alarm module.

Second, the alarm module will only talk to one of the specialized Land Rover testers, like the T4 or the Autologic.  There's really no other way for you to read faults.

Whenever there is alarm trouble there is always the possibility that an alarm trigger - for whatever reason - will result in the alarm unit telling the engine controller to disable the motor.  At that point, the only cure is a tow to the dealer.

For that reason, I urge to yout to find a dealer or properly equipped shop and sort ths out promptly.

There is no way to disconnect the system at home.  Furthermore, in the USA, the alarm controller runs the power locks so if you lose it, you lose locks, too
