Land Rover Repair: Brake Master Cylinder, brake master cylinder, air bubbles

Question
I replaced the brake master cylinder with a new one. Followed the maula to the letter. I went to bleed the cylinder, maual says pump 5 times , repeat if necessary. I have absolutley no pressure on the peddle. Nothing helps. Have bleed at the calibers on on all four. Any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Lee,

you've got air in the system somewhere.  How did you bleed the wheels? Furthest point first?  RAVE CD suggests otherwise.

MC bleeding is

1. disconnect battery
2. depress brake pedal fully and slowly 5 times
3. release pedal and wait 10 seconds
4. air bubbles should rise into reservoir
5. repeat until pressure is returned to system

THEN

Manual has bleeding sequence front to rear - not quite like other N.American LHD systems.

1. front passenger
2. front driver
3. rear passenger
4. rear driver.

NOTE:  RHD systems - like above but RHD passenger side.

Other than that, it could be your installation OR the replacement MC you installed.

Best of luck,

JohnMc
