Land Rover Repair: LR Discovery Stalling at Low Speeds, oil light, gunk

Question
Hi, I have a 96 Discovery that is having issues. While coming to a stop, slowing down to park, trying to back out of a parking spot, or sometimes while waiting at stop lights, the car dies. The oil light also comes on as it is dying. No check engine light has come on at all. It happens in drive and while in reverse and only at low speeds. I have replaced the alternator and battery in the past month. The fuel pump was replaced 3 years ago. It will start right back up for the most part. Sometimes it takes 30 minutes or so and the engine doesn't turn over at all. Thanks for your help!

Answer
simplest solution-the Idle air stepper motor may need cleaned.  it's on the side of the throttle, it controls airflow at idle, if it's gunked up you won't have enough air.  A can of carb-cleaner and some towels will de-gunk it.

If that's not it then start looking at ignition components and clean the MAF.
