Land Rover Repair: Extended warranty, land rover discovery, land rover dealer

Question
Hi,
I have a 2004 land rover Discovery. It has never been in the shop for any repairs except for the required service that I have kept up with. It has 42,000 miles on it. The warranty ends the end of June. I am thinking about buying an extended warranty. But I have heard that they are very expensive when you buy them through the dealership.  I have also heard that it is almost impossible to get a good reliable one that is not through the dealership. I have heard of two other ones that are mentioned on a range rover information and message board site.  Do they cost the same at all dealerships? Thank you for your imput.

Answer
The Land Rover dealer warranties are from APCO, Automotive Protection Company.  APCO used to be part of Ford but as you know both Land Rover and Apco have now been spun off.

There are some agents - like us (Robison Service) who can write APCO coverage outside the dealer network.

APCO sets prices and there is not much markup.  So there is some leeway but not much.
