Land Rover Repair: Steering Wheel, srs airbag, rovers north

Question
Hi:
Problem: I replaced my horn switches and the wiper switch - I had to pull the steering wheel out - replaced the parts - now I cant place back the steering wheel back into posittion - It slides easily a little, but stops half way - this is causing a craking noise in the steering wheel when you turn it - Do I need a special tool ..... please I live far away from the mecanic, so I want to try to solve this.
thanks

Answer
It sounds like you have broken the spool that carries signals from the column to the wheel.  You can mailorder a spool from any LR dealer, or Atlantic British or Rovers North.  I suggest you buy a day's access to LR's service site and read up on what you are trying to do - www.landrovertechinfo.com  Also, the SRS/airbag warnign light is now going to be lit until you visit a dealer or specialist with the tool to turn it off.
