Land Rover Repair: low sounding knock (not very Loud), cat converter, poor fuel

Question
this quiet knock that I am hearing?. I am headed out on an adventure trip on the McCgruder trail in Idaho, its gonna be a week long ride, while this knock be an issue if its the cat converter? The knock goes away when I rev it up a little but i am not hearing it unless its in idle and I am under the hood and listening for it intently. I leave in a week what should i do? should increase the octane?

Answer
A catalytic can collapse and either fall out the tailpip OR clog up the exhaust, either is bad.

Knocking from poor fuel is typically at high engine loads, in this case I doubt fuel would have anything to do with your knocking.  It sounds like it's mechanical in the engine to me, definately have it checked out before you go if you don't want to get stranded.
