Land Rover Repair: Starter, land rover freelander, 2003 land rover freelander

Question
What can I do to troubleshoot the starter on a 2003 Land Rover Freelander. Last week we replaced the fuel pump and today the car will not turn over when hot.

Answer
You can take a multimeter and check for power at the solenoid when you turn the key to crank, and make sure there is constant power to the main starter B+ terminal.

If there's no crank power, you probably have an issue with the drive authorization, and you'll need access to a factory test system to proceed farther.

If there is power, replace the starter.
