Land Rover Repair: Land Rover Discovery Radio, land rover discovery, radio problems

Question
I have a LR Discovery 2003 and have recurring radio problems.  Radio will all of sudden lose power and come back on a few days or few weeks later. This is not the worst....
First, the radio dies, then the battery dies... The same series of event occurs in the same order.  I believe that he radio powers back on by itself and then drains my battery.  Since I do not use the car everyday, I would not be aware that the radio was powered on for an undetermined amount of time, which ultimately drains the battery.  The service guys at the dealer doesn't believe that this can happened, but we've replaced the battery, and it still happened.  Then the radio was replaced since after almost the 4th time of it happening,  they justified by saying there was a problem with the navigation system (?  which I've never used), then exactly one year and 1 week later when the warranty of the radio was up, the same events happen, no radio, dead battery.  Help!!!! I am at my wits end on what to do.  Please tell me what needs to be done here. HELP.

Answer
The radio in that car is pretty much self contained.  First, I would disconnect it and see if the battery drain issue goes away.  If not go to the nav controller and unplug that.  Those two test will probably point you to the culprit.

YOu may have to follow a unplug and watch for a few weeks routine to get the answer
