Land Rover Repair: air suspension issues, land rover range rover, rover range rover

Question
Hello,  Just got a '94 Land Rover Range Rover County LWB.  Was driving on the freeway when all of a sudden the suspension just dropped down a 1/4 of a mile from my destination and I began bouncing uncontrollably.  I tried to press the button to raise it back up, but it will not go back up.  I am not sure what direction to take with this.  Dealers see dollar signs so I don't want to go to one since I bought this vehicle from a private owner only 5 days ago.  Help?

Answer
Hi D,

This is an all-too common scenerio, the previous owner knew the EAS was on the way out so you got a great deal.  (that's how I got my RR and education on the EAS.....)

The EAS is not as complex as it first seems, just unlike most anything you've seen before.

Odds are the compressor has worn past the limits of usability and would no longer pump enough air to make up for all of the small leaks in the 15 year old rubber parts.  At a minimum you need to rebuild your compressor, I also recommend rebuilding your valve block and replacing your springs.  If your budget is tight start with the compressor but don't wait too long for the block or springs.
