Land Rover Repair: coil spring replacement / dead batteries, british sports cars, dead batteries

Question
Hi Dennis!
First of all i want to thank you for taking your time and helping us all out who
have Rover problems. My problem is i recently replaced the air suspension
with regular coils, and the eas warning light was on for a while. I didn't take
action until my battery started dieing frequently. I noticed that when i turned
off the engine i could hear the compressor or something turn on even though
the key wasn't on the ignition. So though thats what was draining my battery
because it had no more airbags and kept on trying to pump more air in. The
battery was only about 10 months old and i didn't understand why it was
draining so fast. So i took my 99' Range Rover HSE to a British Sports Cars
dealer to uninstall the eas. And i also bought a new battery. Now the eas
warning light is off, but when i turn off the engine i can still hear something
inside the hood turn on, like a compressor or something. And my new
battery is draining again! At first i thought maybe the cables on the battery
were lose or something so i made sure they were tight. But my battery still
keeps on dieing. Im only 18 and don't know much about cars so please help.

Once again thank you so much!!
Jose

Answer
Hi Jose,

The compressor should NOT run with the engine off (to avoid draining the battery).  If it is running the relay has stuck, you can simply unplug the EAS compressor and it will stop.

It may be the ABS pump or A/C fans running, but they shouldn't run with the engine off either.
