Land Rover Repair: Valve cover gaskets, valve cover gasket, rover hse

Question
Is there a particular valve cover gasket brand that is better than another. Is this a job I can do myself? I do much of the maintenance on my '01 Disco II and 99 Ranger Rover HSE 4.6.About how long should it take?

Unless there is some hidden compication it looks simple enough.

We use genuine Land Rover gaskets, though the aftermarket parts are probably OK too.  The job takes 3-4 hours on a 2001 vehicle, more if you are not experienced.  It's something you can do yourself provided you have good mechanical skills.  No special tools are needed.
