Saturn Repair: 95 saturn powertrain control module, powertrain control module, saturn sl

Question
I have a 1995 saturn sl, 4 cyl. The cooling fan wouldn't come on and so I took it off and checked it with a fused jumper. The fan is ok so I hooked it to the a/c wire, so it would come on with the car. After I hooked it to the a/c, my car won't start. I checked for spark at the plugs, there is none. Also the service engine light isn't on when iI turn the ignition. Could that mean I fried my powertrain control module? Please give any advice you can. Thank you!

Answer
Jon,
Yes, it's possible.  The a/c request circuit runs through the heart of the PCM.  If current was able to back-feed through the a/c request circuit, then the answer to your question is Yes.  The a/c circuit (the one that goes to the compressor clutch) has an inline-diode.  This diode keeps electricity flowing one way - away from the PCM.  Unhook everything and test it again.  Make sure that your electrical connections are good at the ignition coil.
