Land Rover Repair: 00 RR 104K, conversion cost, suspension issues

Question
I HAVE AN EAS FAULT CODE I BELIEVE MY COMPRESSOR FAILED IT  Was trying to raise in the morning, AND trying to maintain height while driving. I HAVE THIS SHOP IN MY AREA TRYING TO CONVINCE ME TO CONVERT TO SPRING KIT.HIS PRICE IS $1,700 BUT YOU STATE ITS CHEAPER TO FIX EAS, WHERE AND HOW THANK YOU IN ADVANCE. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO MAIL YOU MY ECU IF NECISSARY BUT I LIVE IN NEW HAMPSHIRE.

Answer
When the vehicles were new, it WAS cheaper to fix EAS.  However, now that they are old, there are just so many parts that are going to fail.  You can replace the air bags, and the sensors fail.  Replace the compressor, and the valve block fails.  And so on.

The other shop is right, conversion will be cheaper in the long run.

If you mailed me the ECU yo could not reinstall it because you need a Land Rover test system to reset it.

In terms of conversion cost, we usually replace the shocks when we change to springs, which makes it more like a $2,000 job but the better ride and handling are usually worth the extra.  Chances are, your shocks are old and tired on a 2000 Rover.

If you are in NH, yo may actually want to drive to our shop to do the work on your truck.  We do it all the time, and conversion is a same-day job.  We may find other suspension issues - loose linkage, etc - that you don't even know about.  We have conversion kits, shocks, and most necessary parts in stock.
