Land Rover Repair: GEARBOX FAULT 96 RR wont start, vehicle speed sensor, o2 sensors

Question
HELLO JOHN: THANKS FOR YOUR HELP LAST JULY (SUSPENSION PROBLEM)
i have 96 RR 4.0 se it turn off while driving on the freeway after the engine would not turn over, gearbox fault message appeared. i had it towed, checking for problems i found fuse #26 blown, i replaced it and try to start it but nothing happen, check the fuses and fuse #26 was blown again, the circuit diagram/fuse details shows that fuse #26 controls 3 things 1)ignition coils 2)O2 sensors 3)ECM
i found O2 sensor wire exposed and making contact to metal fix it. try to start it, engine turn over gearbox fault continues to blink  but it won't start, check the coilpacks for spark but there is no spark i don't know why. I'm not a mechanic and i like to work on my own cars. i scanned with a can OBD || it give me code PO726 (engine speed sensor CKT Range/per. i check the shop manual components locations for the engine speed sensor did not find it, i found vehicle speed sensor, are this components the same and do i need to replace the engine speed sensor to be able to start the engine and eliminate the gearbox fault message.
I was reading your pass answers for gearbox fault it help me but i have not solved the problem.
i need all the advice you can give to help me fix it.

Once again, I thank you for taking the time to help me      Jose

Answer
It's possible the engine speed sensor is at fault but without a more sophisticated scanner you are really just guessing.  The engine speed sensor is located on the left (driver in USA) side of the engine, down low in back where it meets the transmission.  It's a sensor that counts movement of the flywheel plate.
