Land Rover Repair: 1999 Land Rover Discovery Snow Chains, wheel drive option, land rover discovery

Question
IF I put snow chains on, do I put them on the rear tires or the front tires and drive in the four wheel drive option.  Also, the manual says to only use land rover approved tire chains - do you know where I can find the list of approved chains?  Thanks,  Bob

Answer
First of all, your vehicle is always in four wheel drive.  The only option you have is low range, which is not needed in snow.

Ask your dealer for a lost of approved chains.

Personally, I like RUD chains.  Look at their website. www.rudchain.com

Chains work best when fitted to all four wheels.  Land Rover recommends that everywhere in the world except here.  In the US they have a lesser recommendation because they don't want to get sued by people who fit the chains wrong and cause damage or accidents.  Use your judgement in regard to your own capabilities and fitment.
