Land Rover Repair: water in gas tank, water in gas tank, light flashes

Question
I recently stopped to get gas and as soon as I started driving the check engine light starts flashes and it starts shaking.  Now it has difficulty changing gears and appears to be burning gas too fast. How do I go about fixing this? Thanks in advance.  Phaedra

Answer
First - it is not safe to drive your Rover if it chakes and the engine light flashes.  Tow it wherever it's going to be fixed.

Next, if the problem is contaminated gas . . . at our shop we would remove the tank, empty it and clean it inside.  We'd change the filter and blow out the lines to the engine.

We'd have the injectors flow tested, and probably install new ones.

Before embarking down that path I suggest you unhook a fuel line and pump some gas into a clear container to see if it's contaminated.
