Land Rover Repair: Land rover disc 1997, coolant system, coolant leak

Question
on my recent trip back from ensenada  I found that all of a sudden my motor would hesitate and loose power.  then be fine again   I put it in neutral no problem gas  varoom drop it back in drive and it up & down in power I am thinking transmission...no
I pull over and wait 5 min get baCk in and it is fine till 3 days later when I am on the road again checked fluid levels  fine so I am thinking clogged fuel injectors..... I know that there is a high turn over on  fuel pumps.....  maybe the problem ?

now yesterday I stop after only 20 minutes of driving and I see coolant leaking out after I park it is coming from the opening where fluid is put in under the sides is this normal ?  for an over flow or is this thing shot?
I also have heard water swishing under my dash board in the last 3 months I  filled and ran with the heater on  and  thinking it was an airlock...but   still doing it can all this be related?  is there a sensor for catilyc converters

or plugged fuel filter

Now my wifes 1998  is loosing power and she just put in a new fuel pump 2 years ago?  by the way it only hesitates on speeds over 50mph

Answer
Hi Michael,

for your 97 Disco, sounds like either the heater matrix (core) is blown or maybe a headgasket or both.  Hard to tell from where I'm sitting.

I would go to a local garage and have your coolant system pressure tested and also the cylinders pressure tested.  If there's a leak, any general mechanic should be able to find it.  The fact that you use to hear coolant under the dash indicates the matrix, the coolant leak and power loss could mean headgasket too.

As for your wife's 98, it could be the exhaust valves sticking.  This too is a common problem and the only fix is a valve job.

Best of luck,
