Land Rover Repair: Discovery II 99 SES light vs CEL, emissions test, dash light

Question
Does it have both a "service engine soon" light and a "check engine light"?  my mechanic said the ses light is a timed reminder but i can't find a check enging light that illuminates with the ignition "on" as the other functions light up briefly

Answer
Hi Diane,

NO, you have the SES instead of the CEL dash light.  If the SES light comes one (amber) and you do not notice any problems with the vehicle, it should be that emissions test reminder.  IF the SES flashes, it is indicating that a problem has been detected and you should seek assistance as soon as possible.
