Land Rover Repair: land rover temp gage, cooling fan, thermostats

Hi, I just bought a 2000 disco II the temp gage moves half way up and stays there within one mile of driving the heat blows very very hot i feel it is to hot i have checked all fluids they are good no leaks. any thoughts??? thank you

the LR thermostats are set high, 195 degrees I believe, 1/2 way along the gage is normal, but it does heat up quickly.  

I don't know of any specific common failures that could cause this, it may be a problem with the water pump, radiator, or cooling fan.
