Land Rover Repair: 2000 Disco door/hinge problems, door hinge, latch

Question
I have a Land Rover Disc 11 2000 and the back door will not open any more it's not the usually where I just have to grease the handle.  It looks as if the top hinge is out of alignment.   How can I open my door?  The handle feels like it is not attached to anything to release the latch anymore?  Do you know how to fix or if it is something I could order the parts and do myself?

Hi Brandee,

you'll have to try lifting up the door before you attempt to open it.  Sounds like the hinge pin is bent or broken.  It's also possible that the release handle is broken.  You can get to the latch from the inside (cramped area but possible) but you'll have to remove the tail door panel.
