Land Rover Repair: Air Suspension Warning Light, rovacom, airsprings

Question
Hello Dennis,

I bought a 98 Ranger Rover about 6 mos ago.  w/ 120k miles.  My air suspension light came on and the car did not lift itself.  Now I'm riding w/ no suspension.  I checked the fuse box and all fuses related to air suspension looked ok.  The ride height indicator panel starts flashing and they all say on solid.  Can you please tell me what I can do to reset? or fix this problem.  I called Land Rover and they gave me a ball park of $2k.

I appreciate your feedback, Thanks, Danny

Answer
Hi Danny,

Worst case you shouldn't have to spend more than $1000, most likely less than $200.

there are several components in the EAS that will cause the whole system to shut down if one fails.  The fastest way to diagnose is to hook up to a Rovacom or similar Land Rover specific diagnostic tool and read the codes.  The codes have to be taken with a grain of salt and interpreted, as the ECU doesn't always get it right.

With those miles I expect you need 4 new airsprings and a compressor rebuild, a valve-block overhaul is a good idea as well.
