Land Rover Repair: land rover P38, printed circuit boards, r23

Question
Hi John
I have a LR p38. Windows will not open. Water was in the BCM. I dried it out and this worked for a short time and then stopped. I removed the BCM and found a blown capacitor. It was so badly damaged I am unable to read its value to replace and unable to find a cr diagramm on the internet. it has direct leg contact with resister R23 there are only two on this board. the blown one is brown the other blue. Your hel would be appreciated
thanks
David

Answer
Hi David,

I'm sorry but I cannot find any information about the BeCM board itself.  I only have the RAVE CD and I've looked all over to try and find this capacitor and its value.  I have pinouts and fuse details but nothing to the level you are asking.  I doubt most LR mechanics would bother or have the knowledge to work with printed circuit boards - dealers would rather have the unit replaced for expediency and profit.

What I suggest is that you post your question on the Range Rover bulletin board found on the website www.discoweb.org - I'm sure a fellow Rangie owner will point you in the right direction.

Regrettably,

JohnMc

NB:  if you don't have a RAVE CD and would like more 'general' info on the BeCM, send me an email and I'll do what I can for you.  John.
