Land Rover Repair: Choke, electronic fuel injection, diagnostic connector

Kia ora John, I have a es 96 LR series1 3.9 V8 and in the mornings when it is cold it coughs a lot so my question is do I have a choke on my motor and if so where is it as it is the middle of winter here and I think the problem is just the choke not working, kia ora anoo(good health) and thanks.

Your vehicle does not have a check.  It has electronic fuel injection.  Do you have a rectangular diagnostic connector in the lower dash, under the steering wheel?  You should.

If so, you can plug in a scan tool and read the sensor data from the engine when it's cold to figure out what's wrong.
