Land Rover Repair: Poly V Belt over the pulley is squeaking, belt tension gauge, range rover lwb

Question
John, I have a 1993 Range Rover LWB.  Put a new 4.0 engine in and can;t stop the squeaking coming from the Poly V Belt over the pulley.

Any suggestions?

Thank you so much.

Joe

Answer
Hi Joe,

could it be tensioner that needs to be replaced?

IF its slipping, you can replace the belt (if old) or have someone check the tension force on the belt with a drive belt tension gauge.  IF gauge measures 270N (non air conditioning) ; 295N (with air conditioning) OR GREATER, tension is good.

Best of luck,

JohnMc
