Land Rover Repair: security system disabled, hyannis, gizmo

Have a 1997 LR Discovery and am on vacation in Martha's Vineyard. My son locked himself out of the car; the key would not open the car and the lock gizmo was inside the car. The police jimmied the car open. WE then could not disable the security system in order to start the car. My son disconnected the battery for 20 min and then reconnected, but this didn't work. We are stumped. and are probably need to tow the truck to Hyannis.  Any ideas/ Wendy

Hi Wendy,

usually, you can disarm the vehicle by locking the doors with just the key.

insert the key into the drivers door then lock the door.  This will lock all the doors at once.  

With the key still in the drivers door, wait a moment then unlock the door.  This should unlock all the doors and disarm the system.
