Land Rover Repair: starting probs, quality replacements, intake plenum

Question
i have a 97 rr4.0se just lately it has a starting prob .. have to turn engine over for ages before it fires .. once started all is ok .. starts all day long then .. wont start next morning .. i see the oil light wont go out while cranking  can this be the problem ??

Answer
The oil light typically won't go out while cranking because of  engine speed.

Start with the easy stuff, fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs and wires-replace them all with high quality replacements.

Then check the PCV line from the right valve cover to the intake plenum, clean/replace as needed.  Also the idle air stepper motor on the throttle body may need cleaned (looks like a 35mm film canister)
