Land Rover Repair: 96 DISCO CAM POSITION SENSOR, crank pulley, vacuum leaks


Question
I RECENTLY CHANGED THE BATTERY ON MY DISCO AND STRANGE THINGS ARE HAPPENING : FIRST: CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN READ IT GIVES A CAM SENSOR POSITION ERROR , EVEN THOU IT CAN BE CLEARED IT COMES BACK AGAIN.
ALSO THE TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON  EVEN WHEN YOU FIRST START THE TRUCK IN THE MORNING (COLD) AND GOES OFF AT WILL, REAR DEFROST STOPPED WORKING, CRUISE STOPPED WORKING(WORKED FINE BEFORE,FIXED VACUUM LEAKS), REAR WIPER STOPPED WORKING, NOT SURE WHAT GIVES!!
TRUCK DRIVES FINE OTHER WISE, IT HAS EXCELLENT MAINTENANCE RECORD.

Answer
The cam sensor is located above the crank pulley.  Since the code comes back, I'd say you should check it out.

The trans temperature sensor is in the lines to the cooler. Switches do fail, but verify your trans fluid temperature with a meter before dismissing that.

The other problems are just routine electrical gremlins from the sound of it.  IF you don't have a factory workshop manual and ETM, I suggest you buy them.
