Land Rover Repair: transmission problems, transfer case lever, tranfer case

Hi John, I have have a 1994 Discovery with a V8/automatic. I have two problems. The fisrt, is when I put in PARK the vehicle still rolls. The second, is I can not get the tranfer case to fully engage into LOW. Sometimes I can get it to engage by holding the lever in the LOW position and at the same time putting into the DRIVE, the it pops back out.

It is possible that both your troubles stem from improper adjustment.  The gearshift lever is connected to teh gearbox via an adjustable cable.  There are rods hooking the transfer case lever to the case.

Make sure they are set up right.

If they are correct, you may have internal problems in the transmisison (park pawl) or the transfer case, or both.
