Land Rover Repair: Just purchased 1999 Disco ES, land rover specialists, mail order

Question
Hi We just purchased a 1999 ES and we love it! Only two questions....the SLS seems to be working fine as we can see the rear of the car raise and lower when it should, but the car is on a constant lean toward the drivers side...What could this be?? We are also wondering what a clunking sound from the undercarriage would be when driving into driveways and over bumps..Thankyou

Answer
First, I will start by saying that your lean may be the result of accident damage or twisting of the body.  Check that first.

You may have a broken coil spring in front, or there might be a calibration problem with the air suspension in back. If the air suspension has a problem you've going to have to find a dealer or shop with the special Land Rover test system to diagnose it.  Alternately, you may want to go to one of the mail order suppliers and buy a kit to convert to coil springs.

There are many parts that can get loose and clunk.  There is no way for me to diagnose that from here.  To find a shop, look at the list of Land Rover specialists on www.rangerovers.net
