Land Rover Repair: disco II rear air suspension, stock height, stock components

Question
I didn't mean "stock height", but where it should stand with a 2" spacer under the air spring. The back is standing way up, past "level" with the front. Do you have any experience with those SLS remote controls (for your keychain) that can be incorporated with the suspension? I am pretty sure that is the only way to make the suspension go down on command. Other than that, I will check out the shocks for now. Thanks, Jordan

-----Question-----
Hey Dennis, On my 99 Discovery II I recently replaced one air spring and the compressor as well. However this problem is the opposite of what you might usually get questions about. Soon after, with it working perfect, I ordered a 2" spacer lift kit and installed it W/ the self-leveling sensor extensions (2" as well). But now my rear suspension is VERY stiff, like its in 4WD Mode all the time. And when i hit the slightest of bumps, it sounds like something hits hard. Like either the driveshaft or the shocks run out of slack, only when the back end goes up, not down. The kit stated it would be ok with stock components such as driveshaft and shocks. So my 2 questions are: 1. How do  I get the back end to stay at normal height/psi when the sensors are just as they were set before? and 2. What do I need to do to stop that loud Thing from hitting hard on every bump?

It sounds like your shocks are topping out, remove the spacers and see if that cures it.  if it does you need longer shocks or extension brackets for them.

I'm not sure what you mean by stay at normal height- do you mean stock height?it you put the sensors back the way they were normal operation should resume

Answer
I would say put it back the way it was, make sure everything is working correctly, and re-install.

You didn't mention spacers in the front, if you didn't put spacers or longer springs up front the rear will be higher.

I've never worked with the spacer kits so I can't say for sure where the problem lies.
