Land Rover Repair: 96 Disco Heater Matrix, workshop manual, o ring

Question
Hi again John,
Regarding my 96 Disco, I was towing my boat last week and hot water started dripping on my foot and dribbling down the driver side carpet. After reading my workshop manual I am under the impression that it is probably an O-ring in the heater matrix, however the book claims that the matrix can only be removed by a dealer if the disco has air conditioning. At this stage I have disconnected the heater in the engine bay, but would like to fix the problem without mortgaging the house, thanks in advance,
Clarke.

Answer
The o-ring situation you describe is on Range Rovers, not Dicscoveries.  If you are leaking hot coolant on your feet you have a leaky heater matrix, which requires extensive dashboard teardown for access and repair.  There is no quick fox for a heater matrix leak.
