Land Rover Repair: 02 Land Rover Discovery, land rover discovery, coolant level

Question
I've been smelling antifreeze and noticed that there was a small puddle in my garage when I moved my car. Took it to 2 mechanics and was told I need a new head gasket. I plan to sell my car in 6-9 months, and I don't have the kind of cash they're asking to have it repaired. Is there a temporary solution that will carry me until I sell the vehicle? I've heard about sealants. Would that work? Thanks!

Answer
I've never used stop leak, I don't know if it will work.  The LR engines have aluminum blocks and heads, which do NOT tolerate overheating.  Check the coolant level every day and it might last a little longer.  If you are selling it new head gaskets will be a good selling point, and help get a better price.

If you don't want to fix it you might be better off to sell now before it gets worse.
