So is the fluid leak a major issue or something that can be fixed cheaply, relating to where the location of the leak is

couple of questions, related to the sinking in the rear suspension, when the car was on it took forever but it did raise back to normal height, then when I turn the car off it sometimes does or doesn't sink again, it is on the drivers side and not really the passenger side, but anyway I was looking underneath the car and noticed that there is a small leak of a yellow colored fluid, located after the catalyic converter, in the middle, towards the back?? What could this be, never noticed it before...also I am worried that if I do buy new air suspension bags it still will not raise, is there a way to find out if the compressor is the problem or just the bags??? It is sitting right now in the driveway, should I raise the back of it is ok sitting sunk in the back?? Is it safe to drive a short distance??

The yellow fluid leak is probably oil from the transmission or transfer case.  It has nothing to do with the suspension.

To check for leaks the suspension must be on a drive on service lift, where you can spray the bags and lines with soapy water to look for leaks.

If you drive it while flat there is a chance you will damage the bags further but they are probably already toast on an older Rover.

There is no way for me to say how big a deal the leak is - you will have to have a workshop look at it.

One caution that I'll offer is that there is no warning lamp for low transmission fluid or transfer case lube, nor are there underhood dip sticks to check level.  Levels must be checked in a workshop on a lift.

So there is no way to tell how close to empty *** damage level *** you may be.

My best suggestion: Check it now before a non-problem turns into a big problem.
