Land Rover Repair: 2003 RR On Board computer problem, diagnostic check, electronic display

Question
Hello- My 2003 range rover computer screen blacked out a few days ago. The controls will work (although you can't see anything) the radio, cd player etc will work for about 2 minutes and then automatically shut off. I can then turn the computer off and back on again and hear the radio for another 2 minutes etc. I have no error codes and am wonderfing if it could be a fuse issue but I would think nothing would work. At this time with the screen black, I have no trip information, no NAV, limited radio etc. Is there a way to reset it? I have spoken to 2 dealerships who have never heard of this and reccomend a diagnostic check. Thought I would check around to see if anyone has had this problem. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Answer
I have never seen that trouble in a Rnage Rover, but our company also services BMW and I've seen it with the 7-series dash, which is similar to what you have.

There is nothing to do except take it to a qualified shop, probably a dealer.  You'll need a shop with the latest factory diagnostic tools to check the electronic display.

If you are out of warranty I suggest you prepare yourself for a sizeable cost, based upon my BMW experience - $2000+
