Land Rover Repair: Heated Seat for Driver not working, heating element, leather face

Question
My 2000 Range Rover 4.6 HSE, heated driver seat not working. How can I repair?

Answer
Almost always, the problem with Rover heated seats is a break in the electric heating element in the seat cushion.  New elements are about $150, but you have to remove the seat, then remove the leather face to swap it.

You can check by measuring the resistance through the wires - there are 2-wire leads coming out of both the backrest and the lower cushion on each seat.  Normal resistance is 2-3 ohms.  You will undoubetly find one to be an open circuit.
