Land Rover Repair: Clutch no working L/R 110 1986, clutch fluid, clutch pedal

Question
Have a 1986 L/R 110, in last few days there does not seem to be any pressure when you put in the clutch. As a result, cann't put into gear once started. Have to start in gear and use brake to stop moving. Depressing clutch in does nothing. Have checked that the transmission fluid is full. Any ideas as to cause of problem and what would be involved to fix??

Answer
Check the clutch fluid reservoir - it's small and hidden back by the firewall, behind the brake reservoir.  It takes brake fluid.  If it's empty you may be able to get a clutch pedal temporarily by filling it then pumping.

If it's empty you have a leak - either the master or slave cylinder.  You'll need to get the leaking part replaced and bleed the system to bring it back to life.
