Land Rover Repair: 1995 Discovery ABS Light is on, wheel sensors, dashboard light

Question
I just purchased a 1995 Discovery to tinker with. I believe I have a problem with the ABS system because the ABS light is on all the time. There are no codes displayed on the ECM box under the passenger seat. Where do I start to diagnose the problem, can I test the wheel sensors using an ohmmeter? Can I reset the ABS light without special tools to see if it comes on again? What are the most common problems causing the ABS light to come on? Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks…

Answer
If you go to www.discoweb.org you can search the articles to read how to jump wires and read faults from the ABS system via dashboard light blink codes.

You do not need to reset the ABS light.  If the fault is corrected the light will go out.

The box under the seat only displays engine codes; nothing for ABS

The most common problem is loose sensors - tap them down into place with a mallet
