Eagle Repair: replacing struts on 1993 Eagle Summit, rear struts, eagle summit

Question
How difficult is it to replace the front and rear struts on my car. I have already purchased them.

Answer
I am not familiar with your vehicle, But struts are fairly simple to install. If your struts go on the inside of the large coil spring you may have to remove the spring and this requires delicate careful proper removal using ALL safety devices. Should this spring fly out due to still having some compression pressure on it you can be seriously injured or KILLED if it hits you.

I have seen springs fly 30 feet across the shop and take a hunk of cement out of the wall on several occassions and fortunately only seen one person injured with a broken arm.

I hope I put some FEAR into you so you get some professional HELP when trying to do this project.

HINT: ALWAYS mark the existing position of the old struts location at the top and bottom attachment points on the vehicle and install your new struts EXACTLY in the SAME position that you removed the old ones from.

You WILL need to have the vehicle aligned after your done or you WILL wear tires.

Don't be to PROUD to ASK for HELP from someone who has the professional expertise in doing this repair. It just may save your LIFE.

I have been doing repairs for over 20 + years and if I encounter something I am not sure of, I will ASK someone who knows.

Ask yourself, Is it worth the risk for a couple of bucks ?.
