Land Rover Repair: Service Engine Soon, land rover dealership, service engine soon light

Question
I just bought a 1999 Range Rover about a month and a half ago.  All the recalls on the vehicle were done previous to purchase and all seems well.  Not two weeks ago the blasted Service Engine Soon light came on, flashed, then stayed on.  I immediately took the Range Rover to the closest Land Rover dealership.  After checking the suv (and having it for about a week) the technician came up to me and said "We cannot find anything wrong, we replaced the fuse for the light and cleared the codes.  We checked out the codes on the vehicle and nothing was wrong with it.  If you see it again, bring it back and we will check it again."
Needless to say it has come on again, the only thing I can think of is a sensor that may be bad, but again the technician said that the sensors were all new and in perfect order....Is there anyway to just try and turn it off to see if maybe the light is just wonky?
Thanks in advance,
Cristin

Answer
There is no fuse for the light.  If they cleared the codes, there was some kind of problem.  What was it?

If the light is on again, there is something wrong, and there will be fault codes stored.

Reading your story, I think the dealer service person was ignorant or not forthcoming in their answer, or you did not understand the answer to repeat it here.

If so, you might want to look for a better qualified service provider.
