hi, would you know to remove the ignition barrel?

Most Land Rovers don't have a removable ignition barrel. They just have replaceable ignition switch/column locks.  The P38 Range Rover and some other newer Rovers do have replaceable locks.  On those, you insert the key, turn partway, and operate the release with the covers taken off.
