I have a 1990 range rover, one day the trans started to slip real real bad so i changed the fluid and filter (what a pain) still slips and no reverse to speak of. What are your thoughts

I'd say the 1st gear clutch has burnt out.  Time to remove it and have it overhauled.  Search on the web for a qualified ZF repair specialist in your area.  ZF is the company that makes the Range Rover transmission.

Here in New England, ZF would charge $1500-2000 for the transmission overhaul, plus the labor to remove and refit it and the fluid, filter, cooler lines and any othe rparts needed.

Sometimes costs are higher when you find broken parts.

Normally they will overhaul the whole transmission - they don't just fix one clutch
