Auto body repair & detailing: aftermarket fender and door trim, air moulding, fender trim

Question
HI, I just bought a cherry '99 caddy deville with gawdy stainless fender and lower door trim. Fender trim has screws along bottom of well and i think the rest is some kind of adhesive or two sided tape. I want to remove it all! can you help with detailed instructions as I've never done this before? Also, how do I "even" out the color of the paint if some fading occured underneath? Thanx a lot Ken!

Answer
Pry off with a putty knife or air moulding remover or screw drivers. And yes it will F-up your paint. once you get one corner up pull with a vise grips. Then remove all the left over adhesive with 3M adhesive remover. Then if the paint is not scratched buff with rubbing compound to take out the fading. If scratched sand and refinish lower panels.
This is not a fun task enjoy !
